​After about two years of officially being together, Sal started shopping around for an engagement ring. It was a hard task because Laura is not your traditional girl. They would shop around the mall together at jewelery stores so he could get an idea of what she liked. After months of searching, he choose the perfect one.

Now came time to planning how he was going to pop the question. In October of 2010 Laura enlisted in the Army National Guard and had left to basic training for five months. During those five months Sal missed her to death and decided to propose when she came home for two weeks for Christmas.  Sal asked the opinions of important women in his life and soon came up with the perfect idea: to propose to his princess under the castle at Disneyland!

 

December 31, 2010 was the big day. Laura had no idea that Sal had a surprise for her.  They got up extra early (which was rare for Sal), got ready and headed out to Disneyland for what she thought was going to be a fun day of rides and maybe some fireworks.  Because of New Years the lines were packed, and Laura and Sal were standing pretty squished the whole time.  Usually Sal wouldn't mind this, but he tried to keep his distance from Laura because he has this huge box hidden inside his jacket and didn't want anything to blow his cover.

They walked under the castle a few times, and each time Sal kept thinking in his head "next time for sure".  They took lots of pictures, got on the rides and enjoyed every minute the had with each other since Laura had to head back out to basic training only 4 days later.

Finally the time came and around 11:30am, Sal saw the castle and knew this was the perfect time.  He told Laura "lets get a video under the castle and tell our families Happy New Year." Laura thought this was a little odd, because Sal was more of a picture person, but still went with the flow. They walked up to the castle, and Sal turned Laura towards him and proposed!

 

Laura was so oblivious and once she realized what was going on she was so excited!! Sal hadn't even showed her the ring yet and all she could do was hug him. Finally then Sal showed her the ring, she jumped and hugged him. He was a little worried for a while because she still hadn't said yes. Finally after tears and hugs, she finally did say yes:)
